Primitive Man

Chapter 6: First hunt

The sudden appearance of these animals caught Eva off guard, leading her to contemplate how evolution might have significantly contributed to shaping these creatures during her era.

The rabbit had three horns on its head, and it had light brown fur which looked incredibly unique and captivating. The horns, although an unusual feature for a rabbit, seemed to blend seamlessly with its overall appearance, adding a touch of primitive to its already enchanting presence.

"Should I attack now? If I quickly catch it now, we can kill it," Garnt asked, but his heart was racing so fast since this was his first hunting experience.

[Calm down, don\'t act without thinking twice, you should be more patient when you\'re hunting and make sure to keep your eyes on the area]

Feeling Eva\'s advice sink in, Garnt managed to steady his breathing and suppress his initial rush of excitement. He understood the importance of patience and careful observation when hunting. As he watched the rabbit go about its business, his grip on his makeshift weapon tightened.

He was about to make his move when sudden movement from the corner of his eye caught his attention. Two large wolves burst out of the underbrush, moving with calculated precision towards the unsuspecting rabbit.

Shocked by their sudden appearance, Garnt\'s instincts kicked in, and he quickly retreated back into his hiding spot, heart pounding.

[Don\'t make sounds, slowly try to retreat and let them do whatever they want, they will devour that rabbit and leave]

Eva\'s voice echoed in his mind once again, urging him to remain calm and collected. Panic welled up within him as he realized that he might be the target now. He clung to her advice, trying to focus on his surroundings and suppress the overwhelming fear.

"Damn it! Where did they come from? Good thing, I didn\'t jump into the action," Garnt thought he was safe, but he didn\'t realize how good these Cenzoic Fang Wolves felt the scent around them.

But it was too late for him. One of the wolves had already locked onto his scent. It charged toward him, its eyes fixed on Garnt as its powerful legs propelled it forward. Garnt\'s mind raced as he desperately looked around for a way to escape.

He knew that trying to outrun the wolf in his current state was futile.

The massive wolf lunged at Garnt with astonishing speed, its jaws wide open and its fangs gleaming in the dim light. Before he could fully process the danger, the weight of the wolf crashed into him, knocking him off balance.

"Damn it! Get away from me, you damn beast," Garnt shouted struggling, but he knew he was lucky that only one wolf was interested in him.

Garnt\'s heart pounded in his chest as he struggled to keep his composure amidst the chaos. He could feel the wolf\'s hot breath on his face, its snarls and growls vibrating through its powerful jaws.

Its coarse, bristly fur stood on end, each hair seemingly infused with the untamed spirit of the primitive world showing they were no ordinary wolves.

The grip on his right hand tightened as the wolf\'s teeth sunk in, so Garnt couldn\'t help but shout as the pain kept shooting up his arm. With a surge of adrenaline, he seized the bone knife he had and drove it into the wolf\'s chest, feeling its resistance give way to the blade.

[Quickly try to break free, that knife is not sharp enough to give a fatal injury to the animal]

Eva shouted scared by this turn of events. No matter what, she didn\'t want to lose her new host and for some reason, her personal feelings were also telling her to help this kid in front of her.

The wolf whimpered in agony, releasing his hand, but its bite had taken its toll. Blood oozed from the wound, staining the ground beneath him. Garnt\'s mind raced, echoing Eva\'s advice to escape.

He pulled away from the wounded wolf, leaving the knife embedded in its chest, and staggered back, his breath ragged.

"Ahhhh~ it hurts, it hurts so much," He couldn\'t help but shout as blood kept oozing out of his wound and he knew things would become ugly if he didn\'t do something right now.

Eyes locked with the remaining wolf, Garnt made a split-second decision. With a sudden burst of energy, he turned and sprinted away, his wounded hand throbbing with each heartbeat.

The forest seemed to blur around him as he pushed his small body to its limits, branches and underbrush scraping against his skin.

The sound of the howling wind filled his ears, and his vision narrowed to the path ahead. He could hear the wolf\'s pursuit, but he didn\'t care about looking at them because he kept running for his life without even knowing where he was headed to.

But he was careful enough not to lead them into his cave, where his mother resided.

After running for what felt like an eternity, Garnt\'s breath was ragged and his legs burned with exhaustion. He gradually slowed down, the adrenaline that had fueled his sprint beginning to ebb away. Panting heavily, he found a fallen tree to sit on, his back against its rough bark.

He cradled his wounded hand, the blood continuing to seep between his fingers, staining the forest floor beneath him.

As the sounds of pursuit faded into the distance, Garnt\'s attention shifted to his injury. The pain was now a constant ache, throbbing in time with his heartbeat.

[Looks like they gave up on you, so quickly get up and go back to your cave and tell your mother to quickly treat you]

Eva shouted showing her genuine worry, but for some reason, Garnt refused to do that.
