Chapter 326: 325 Happy Mid-Autumn Festival (2 more)

The two of them got out of the vehicle together.

After a few steps,

A swarm of journalists crowded around them unexpectedly.

Song Zhizhi was taken aback.

Luo Xiaolang hurriedly shielded Song Zhizhi behind her.

The reporters had them tightly surrounded.

“Luo Xiaolang, what’s the relationship between you and Yin Qin? Yin Qin attacked a journalist yesterday, supposedly it was for Ji Baixin, and today another journalist covered Yin Qin picking up and dropping off Ji Baixin to and from work. Is Yin Qin still harbouring feelings for Ji Baixin?” The reporters fired off questions incessantly.

Luo Xiaolang did not answer.

A journalist asked again, “Luo Xiaolang, could you please tell us, are you and Yin Qin actually dating?”

“Is Yin Qin together with Ji Baixin now? Has he dumped you?”

Luo Xiaolang pushed away the journalists standing in front of her.

She simply couldn’t answer these kinds of questions.

The journalists were relentless and continued their line of questioning.

“When Ji Baixin and Yin Qin were engaged, Yin Qin was with you. Now that he’s reconnected with Ji Baixin, he’s gone looking for her again. Yin Qin is so despicable, do you still want to be with him, Luo Xiaolang?!”

In the face of this confrontation, Luo Xiaolang just wanted to leave with Song Zhizhi.

Having had enough, Song Zhizhi pulled Luo Xiaolang, who had been standing in front of her, behind her.

It took Luo Xiaolang a couple of seconds to register this sudden reversal.

Song Zhizhi loudly demanded, “Just because it’s you people who are journalists, you think you can make up facts indiscriminately?”

All the journalists looked at Song Zhizhi.

Steaming, Song Zhizhi snapped, “What happens between Luo Xiaolang and Yin Qin is their own business, they’re not obliged to explain anything to you!”

“We’re just being good Samaritans. A bad guy like Yin Qin is not a good match for Xiaolang.” One journalist seemed to speak in perfect righteousness.

“That’s right. Yin Qin only wanted Luo Xiaolang to make money for him because she was good at gaming. He didn’t truly love her. As a privileged son, if he chose to date someone, he would go for a beautiful girl. For Xiaolang, it’s pure play!” another journalist chimed in.

“So, are you hoping that I’d accuse you of defamation?!” Song’s overwhelming assertiveness struck all the surrounding journalists silent.

All the journalists stared blankly at Song Zhizhi.

“Miss Song, are you saying that we have wronged Yin Qin? Or do you always stand by Ji Baijian because Yin Qin and Ji Baixin are bosom friends and Luo Xiaolang is merely your bodyguard and you haven’t given a thought for her?” an acerbic comment rolled off the lips of a journalist.

“Zhang Xiaoyang of Wind News.” Song Zhizhi read the name off his press pass.

The journalist swiftly covered his ID with his hand.

“What’s the matter? Are you that afraid of people knowing your identity? Afraid that made-up facts could bring about legal punishment!” Song Zhizhi deliberately punctuated her retort.

“I’m not fabricating facts, I’m just asking for a conclusion.”

“Zhang Xiaoyang, have you cheated on three women?” Song Zhizhi looked straight at him.

“Don’t slander me, Song Zhizhi! When did I ever cheat on women!” The journalist was caught off guard by Song Zhizhi’s accusation.

Song retorted, “I’m simply asking for a result, too.”

“You!” The journalist was left speechless for the moment.

Song Zhizhi, with an air of authority, told them sternly, “I’ll reiterate this one last time, what happens between Luo Xiaolang and Yin Qin is their private business; they have no obligation to explain anything to any of you. Don’t harass Luo Xiaolang again. Otherwise, I could expose all your private lives one by one. Do you want to give it a try?”

All the journalists looked at Song Zhizhi.

“Make way!” Song Zhizhi demanded loudly.

The journalists looked at each other, effectively intimidated by Song Zhizhi’s threat.

“Move!” Song Zhizhi’s voice grew even louder.

In the end, the reporters parted to create a path.

Song Zhizhi held Luo Xiaolang’s hand.

Just as they were leaving, she turned around suddenly, “and by the way, Luo Xiaolang has never been my bodyguard, she’s my sister! My long-lost biological sister!”

Having finished, she walked away without turning back.

The journalists, watching Song Zhizhi’s authoritative figure walking away, started talking amongst themselves.

A journalist asked, “Is it true or not? Is Luo Xiaolang Song Zhizhi’s sister?”

“It does seem fake, but Song Zhizhi made it sound real.”

“It doesn’t matter if it’s true or not, it’s newsworthy either way.”

The clamoring group of journalists soon scattered and hastily began writing their stories.

Song Zhizhi led Luo Xiaolang into the supermarket.

Luo Xiaolang looked at Song Zhizhi, who had been tightly gripping her hand, and something unusual stirred within her.

Song Zhizhi released Luo Xiaolang and said, “You can be more assertive when dealing with journalists in the future, don’t let them bully you.”

Luo Xiaolang was clearly patient when dealing with the journalists today.

“Didn’t you say not to get into conflicts with anyone?” Luo Xiaolang responded in confusion, “Last time, I bumped into Yin Qin.”

“…” Song Zhizhi had no could not say a word.

That time, she was just trying to make Luo Xiaolang manage her impulsive instinct.

This place was not as simple as Wulin Temple, maybe sometimes being too impulsive would bring a lot of unnecessary trouble.

She didn’t expect Luo Xiaolang to take her words to heart.

Before she could say anything, she heard Luo Xiaolang say, “Song Zhizhi, I think you’re really impressive.”

“Hmm?”

“I thought that all problems could only be solved by force. When I couldn’t use force, I felt that I wouldn’t be able to solve the problem. I never expected that you could dismiss the journalists with just a few words. These journalists have been following me these past few days and I couldn’t get rid of them! I had to work really hard each time to get away, but today, they let you through.” Luo Xiaolang expressed sincere admiration.

Song Zhizhi laughed, “People tend to bully those who are mild, and ride horses that are meek. In the future, you need to learn how to make those annoying people stay away from you without resorting to force.”

Luo Xiaolang shook her head.

To her, there was no way other than force.

Song Zhizhi said nothing further.

She thought if Luo Xiaolang were to return in the future, she would slowly teach her.

“Let’s go, we need to go grocery shopping,” said Song Zhizhi.

Luo Xiaolang followed Song Zhizhi’s footsteps.

The two bought a lot of ingredients and headed back.

Song Zhizhi, wearing an apron that Ji Baijian occasionally wore, started cooking following a recipe.

Luo Xiaolang sat on the sofa and watched Song Zhizhi floundering around.

Song Zhizhi really wasn’t capable of doing anything at all.

Good thing she knew that this could happen, so she bought extra ingredients.

If she failed once, she tried again.

Until she succeeded.

Luo Xiaolang watched as Song Zhizhi dodged the popping oil, every time she reinforced food, her ingredients were cut all over the place. Luo Xiaolang couldn’t stop herself from wanting to come forward to help, but at that moment her phone rang.

Luo Xiaolang looked at the incoming call.

It was Yin Qin.

Now she didn’t know what to feel.

She felt that Yin Qin had crossed the boundary she could control.

So sometimes she didn’t even want to see Yin Qin and might leave the next morning after Song Zhizhi.

After some thought.

She finally answered the phone.

Yin Qin asked on the other end, “Luo Xiaolang, where are you?”

“Home. Song Zhizhi’s home.”

“Can you pick me up? My car broke down,” Yin Qin said irritably, “Damn, I can’t get a taxi at this hour, it’s infuriating!”

It was indeed tough getting a taxi during the peak hours of commute.

Luo Xiaolang hesitated for a moment before saying, “Okay.”

Luo Xiaolang hung up and headed towards Song Zhizhi.

Song Zhizhi was cutting carrots, devoting herself entirely to the task.

Even though the pieces looked all over the place.

“Song Zhizhi, I need to step out,” Luo Xiaolang said.

Song Zhizhi looked up, “Didn’t we agree to have dinner together? Don’t worry, I can prepare it.”

“Yin Qin asked me to pick him up.”

Song Zhizhi frowned.

Luo Xiaolang said, “We might not see much of each other in future.”

So was Luo Xiaolang feeling regretful?

Song Zhizhi was almost certain that Luo Xiaolang liked Yin Qin.

But she sighed, “Alright, go ahead. If you return early, join us for dinner, consider it a farewell meal.”

“Okay.”

Luo Xiaolang left.

Song Zhizhi watched Luo Xiaolang walk away.

Zaozao was right.

There were some feelings she shouldn’t interfere with.

Luo Xiaolang drove to the address Yin Qin gave her.

Despite having been in Jin City for quite some time, she still couldn’t navigate her way around the city.

On each occasion, she relied on the navigation system, and finally reached the place Yin Qin had mentioned.

However, there was no one in sight.

Luo Xiaolang called Yin Qin.

But Yin Qin’s phone was off.

Luo Xiaolang didn’t know where Yin Qin had gone, but she felt that since Yin Qin had asked her to pick him up, he must be nearby, so she sat in the car and waited for him.

She waited for a long time.

Song Zhizhi called to ask if she was coming back?

She replied that she wasn’t.

She kept waiting for him.

She lost track of how long she had waited.

She knew in her heart that Yin Qin had left, perhaps catching a taxi and departing, yet she didn’t understand why she felt so disappointed, a sense of disappointment that made her lose interest in everything, not wanting to go anywhere.

Eventually.

She started the car.

She thought, there’s no point in waiting for something that will never come.

Just as she started the car, she saw Yin Qin and Ji Baixin, with thick bandages strapped to Baixin, limping towards a convenience store.

Luo Xiaolang watched them, seeing them growing closer and closer.

Then she watched as they exited the store.

After they exited, Ji Baixin pushed Yin Qin away.

“I can go home by myself,” stated Ji Baixin bluntly.

Yin Qin looked at her.

“You can leave now, don’t come again. I can take care of myself.”

“You wouldn’t have fallen at home if you could handle things yourself! Ji Baixin, can’t you return to the Ji family?”

“I haven’t thought about going back since I left,” Ji Baixin said indifferently, “You can leave now.”

Yin Qin glared at her.

Ji Baixin didn’t seem to want to exchange any more words with him. She limped along, carrying the things she’d purchased and headed upstairs.

Yin Qin couldn’t help but worry as he watched Ji Baixin leave, until she disappeared from his sight.

After a long time.

Only then did Yin Qin turn around to leave.

As he was about to hail a cab, he suddenly noticed Luo Xiaolang’s car parked not far from him.

Luo Xiaolang sat in the driver’s seat, quietly watching him.

It was then that Yin Qin remembered he had asked Luo Xiaolang to pick him up.

Earlier, he had taken Ji Baixin home from her studio.

After dropping her off, he realized his car had broken down and asked a repair shop to tow it for repairs. He couldn’t find a cab, and he had left his coat at Ji Baixin’s place. When he returned to retrieve it, he found Ji Baixin had fallen at home. He wanted to take her to the hospital, but Ji Baixin adamantly refused. Yin Qin stayed and ordered delivery for dinner.

Even though Ji Baixin didn’t look happy the entire time, Yin Qin didn’t care.

He had been disliked by Ji Baixin more times than he could count anyway.

After dinner, Ji Baixin insisted on going downstairs to buy something herself. Despite Yin Qin’s repeated suggestions, she refused to let him do the errand. Unable to convince her otherwise, Yin Qin helped her downstairs to the supermarket.

It turned out… She needed to buy personal items.

After making her purchases, Ji Baixin refused to have Yin Qin accompany her further.

Then, Yin Qin noticed Luo Xiaolang.

He quickly jogged over and sat in the passenger’s seat, “Xiaolang, you’re here.”

Luo Xiaolang nodded.

“How long have you been here? Why didn’t you call me?” Yin Qin took out his phone and realized it was dead from waiting for Baixin for so long at her work.

Throughout his interaction with Ji Baixin, he had completely forgotten about this.

Yin Qin said, with a hint of guilt at that moment, “You called me, right?”

“Yes,” Luo Xiaolang nodded.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t think you were waiting all this time…” Yin Qin felt even more guilty.

Luo Xiaolang said nothing.

She started the car.

There was silence in the car.

Though Yin Qin was normally talkative, he was suddenly too guilty to speak.

It was Luo Xiaolang who finally broke the silence, she said, “Yin Qin, didn’t you once say we’re friends that would take a bullet for each other, and I could do anything I wanted without seeking your permission?”
