Chapter 360: 360: Silent Outburst (2) You are so indifferent towards Mu Cidian!

Chapter 360: 360: Silent Outburst (2) You are so indifferent towards Mu Cidian!

Luo Xiaolang was eating chicken soup.

She had never eaten meat before, and this first time was like discovering a new world.

She thought, if she got a chance, she would have to go back and tell her master and fellow apprentices that meat was great and not a hardship to abstain from.

She was thoroughly enjoying her meal.

However, Xin Zaozao had only taken a few bites, her food evidently tasteless to her.

Song Zhizhi didn’t force her to eat more.

After all, they were all adults, and adults should know how to take care of themselves.

“Didn’t you go to see Mu Cidian?” Song Zhizhi asked her.

“No.” Xin Zaozao was straightforward.

Even though the news said he was on the brink of death.

“How is Nie Feng doing?” Song Zhizhi changed the topic.

Every time Xin Zaozao talked about Mu Cidian, there was a clear repulsion.

At times, Song Zhizhi wondered whether she was rejecting Mu Cidian the person, or rejecting her own heart.

“Luckily, he woke up.” Xin Zaozao said as she let out a small laugh.

She could smile while talking about anyone else, but not when it came to Mu Cidian. Not even a hint of a smile.

“Nie Feng’s condition is now stable. His parents were not accustomed to life in Jin City, so with the doctor’s permission, they took him home. Wei Ziming personally escorted them all the way.”

Before they left, Xin Zaozao transferred a large sum of money into Nie Feng’s account, enough for him to live comfortably even if wasted.

“Do you still need a bodyguard in the future? I can have Brother Ziming find someone for you.”

“No need.” Xin Zaozao declined, “Sometimes I wonder, can a bodyguard really guarantee safety? This accident has put me through great torment and even implicated Nie Feng. You have no idea how guilty I felt when I thought he might become vegetative. Seeing Nie Feng’s gray-haired parents sobbing at his bedside, I was filled with the urge to atone with my life.”

Song Zhizhi swallowed hard.

That’s just Xin Zaozao, clear-cut between right and wrong.

A girl so kind-hearted, if not for the family she was born into, her life should’ve been so much more brilliant.

Xin Zaozao said, “Luckily, Nie Feng has woken up. The doctor said if he has a good recovery, he will regain his vitality. After going through this ordeal, I don’t intend to hire another bodyguard. I really don’t want anyone else to suffer due to me. For matters involving myself, I’d rather resolve them by my own means. If I can’t, then it’s my own fault.”

“Ok, what happened has passed. Don’t be so guilt-ridden, and don’t be so extreme.” Song Zhizhi said.

Xin Zaozao smiled, “Actually, I have adjusted my mood quite a bit. Plus, when dealing with Wan Quan, if I really can’t deal with her by myself, I don’t think there’s any meaning to my life!”

Song Zhizhi understood Xin Zaozao’s feelings.

Even though they were different.

The moment she was reborn, she wanted to find someone to help her.

So she sought out Ji Baijian instantly.

Of course, the person she needed to deal with did have a not-so ordinary background. Just by herself, it wouldn’t have been easy. She wanted a quick resolution, but she really hadn’t expected that the person she had to deal with had a stronger background than she had imagined. She felt grateful that she hadn’t chosen to go it alone!

Xin Zaozao was forcing herself to become stronger. She had put up with too much from a young age and had been deceived too deeply. She was alone, without parents or relatives. Apart from herself, she couldn’t rely on anyone else. So, she had to grow up and become an unstoppable force!

Song Zhizhi and Xin Zaozao continued their conversation.

Luo Xiaolang had finished her chicken soup.

She looked very satisfied.

Song Zhizhi and Xin Zaozao both watched Luo Xiaolang.

There was a mutual, unspoken envy.

Being able to eat and drink, and live your day without a care in the world, how wonderful.

Most human sorrow stems from dissatisfaction.

And someone as free of wants and expectations as Luo Xiaolang, was truly enviable.

But who would know?

A seemingly carefree girl like Luo Xiaolang also had hurdles in her life she couldn’t cross… The hurdles of love!

The next day.

Xin Zaozao wakes up.

She chatted with Song Zhizhi for a long time last night.

She thought she didn’t need to vent, she thought she had considered everything clearly, but she was still unable to sleep night after night!

Unexpectedly, after talking with Song Zhizhi all night, she slept better than any day in this period.

Therefore.

People do need to vent, and people do need to confide.

After washing and dressing, she got out of bed and went to work.

As she opened the door, she was almost scared to death by Luo Xiaolang in the living room fitness area.

She saw Luo Xiaolang actually running on the treadmill.

The stomach that was invisible in her loose clothes was now bouncing up and down because of her running.

Xin Zaozao quickly walked over, “Xiaolang, stop running.”

“Why?” Luo Xiaolang asked while panting.

“Stop running now!” Xin Zaozao was very anxious.

Seeing Xin Zaozao’s expression, Luo Xiaolang turned off the treadmill.

She turned it off, inhaling and exhaling to catch her breath.

Xin Zaozao helped Luo Xiaolang down, poured her a glass of warm water, and made her sit properly on the sofa.

Luo Xiaolang looked at Xin Zaozao in confusion.

“Xiaolang, now that you are pregnant, you can’t do such strenuous exercise.” Xin Zaozao told her seriously.

“What strenuous exercise? The doctor even advised me to walk more, which could help with a smooth delivery.”

“Is walking the same as running?” Xin Zaozao raised her eyebrows.

To her, they were the same.

Xin Zaozao was a bit speechless, “In any case, don’t touch anything in the gym from now on. Just be a good pregnant woman.”

“Good?” Luo Xiaolang raised her eyebrows, “What does good mean?”

“Well… well… like this, I’ll send you a list of rules for pregnant women today, and from now on, just follow the rules.”

Luo Xiaolang reluctantly nodded.

Xin Zaozao checked the time and got up to leave. As she was leaving, she said again, “Xiaolang, you absolutely cannot touch anything in the gym until I bring the rules back. Do you understand!?”

“Oh, I understand.” Luo Xiaolang answered.

Xin Zaozao left, still worried.

As she sat in her car, she called Song Zhizhi while driving to tell him about Luo Xiaolang’s situation.

Nonetheless, Song Zhizhi was also worried.

“I think we should assign someone to keep an eye on Xiaolang 24/7.” Xin Zaozao suggested.

Xiaolang was still quite young, and she had been raised in Wulin Temple since childhood, so she’s used to being wild. There’s no way she could be disciplined. Just thinking about it made her feel terrified, and she couldn’t imagine how Luo Xiaolang managed to keep her pregnancy during the risky first three months.

“I think we should tell Yin Qin.” Song Zhizhi cut straight to the point.

Xin Zaozao was startled, “Right, you’re absolutely correct.”

She had urged Luo Xiaolang to tell Yin Qin a week ago, but since she hadn’t pushed her further on the matter, it had completely slipped her mind that Yin Qin was the father of the child.

“I’ll invite Yin Qin over to Xiaolang’s place tonight. If you want to watch the drama unfold, make sure to leave work early.” Song Zhizhi chortled extravagantly.

Xin Zaozao also smiled a bit.

She didn’t know why, but picturing that scene seemed incredibly amusing!

“Okay.” Xin Zaozao agreed.

She parked her car at the Xin Group.

The news in Jin City was still all about her.

Her resentment and grudges with Mu Cidian seemed to never fade away.

So when she arrived at the company, there would always be many people looking at her. It wasn’t because of her status, but rather they were eager to see some new gossip about her.

However.

She had now developed a skill of always maintaining her composure regardless of any situation, they wouldn’t find anything on her.

She entered her own office.

Yan Zihuan followed her in.

“Chairwoman, in today’s itinerary, a director’s meeting is scheduled at 10 a.m., and at 3 p.m. there’s a groundbreaking ceremony for the Star River high-end residential area.” Yan Zihuan reported respectfully.

Xin Zaozao nodded.

She started her computer to deal with some other matters.

“The director’s meeting will last 1 hour, Song’s assistant wants to book you for half an hour at 11 o’clock to report on the adjustment plan for senior leadership salaries.”

“Alright.” Xin Zaozao nodded.

Yan Zihuan quickly jotted it down.

“For the afternoon groundbreaking ceremony, we have arranged for the general managers of the engineering and group customer departments to attend with you?”

“Let Song Lifei accompany me.” Xin Zaozao expressed bluntly.

“Yes.” After Yan Zihuan finished reporting, she asked, “Chairwoman, would you like to drink coffee or tea today?”

“Coffee.”

“Alright.”

Yan Zihuan turned around and left.

After a moment, she carefully placed a cup of coffee in front of Xin Zaozao.

Xin Zaozao casually asked, “Will Wan Quan attend the board meeting today?”

“I haven’t heard of her taking leave.”

“Good.”

“Chairwoman.” Yan Zihuan was still new to the working world and couldn’t help her curiosity, “How is General Manager Mu doing?”

Xin Zaozao continued to type on her keyboard.

She paused for a moment, “I don’t know. I haven’t visited him.”

“Oh.” Yan Zihuan could feel the Chairwoman’s indifference towards General Manager Mu, but she still asked, “I think General Manager Mu has been very kind to you, a lot of times…”

“Don’t you have enough work to do? Need your father to assign you more tasks?” Xin Zaozao raised her eyebrows.

“I have a mountain of work to do, I will go and get to work now.” Yan Zihuan quickly left.

Xin Zaozao watched her retreating figure.

She shifted her gaze back and continued with her work.

There were no emotional fluctuations and there would be none.

At 10 a.m.

Xin Zaozao convened the board meeting. The main purpose of the meeting was to report on all the company’s projects, revenue, costs, and profits to the directors, so that they could understand the current affairs of Xin Group and the future direction of development, most importantly they could see how much money they would make.

So far, ever since Xin Zaozao took over as the Chairwoman, the stock market has been rising, the number of projects have been increasing, and profits have been soaring. Even if some directors were still dissatisfied with being governed by a ‘little girl’, most of them were willing to compromise for the sake of money. Hence, the board meetings were always peaceful, rather than full of disputes.

As such, the meeting ended smoothly after an hour.

Xin Zaozao left the meeting room.

Wan Quan indeed came today and did not ask for leave. Xin Zaozao had thought she would abstain from attending altogether.

Of course, her presence couldn’t make much of a difference now, as most of the directors were still on her side.

A small minority might echo Wan Quan, but they were just trying to attract attention.

Xin Zaozao returned to her office.

She heard Yan Zihuan’s voice outside the door, “Director Wan, our Chairwoman has another meeting. If you want to see her, you can make an appointment. She really doesn’t have time now…”

“Move aside!” Wan Quan’s angry voice sounded, “What now, can’t a dog at the door stop me either?”

Yan Zihuan felt somewhat wronged.

No wonder the chairman has such a terrible relationship with Manager Mu, it must all be the result of Director Wang’s meddling.

It’s truly unfortunate for Manager Mu to have such a mother who would stab her own son in the back.

“Without an appointment, there really can’t be a meeting…”

Xin Zaozao had already walked to the door, “Secretary Yan, let her in.”

Yan Zihuan had no choice but to nod and stand aside.

Wang Quan glared fiercely at Yan Zihuan, then turned to Xin Zaozao with a sarcastic smirk, “What a time to be alive, even the dogs raised by the company dare to disregard me now!”

“If you want to be respected, you have to take a look at who you really are. Do you expect courtesy when you’re ready to bite anyone?!” Xin Zaozao retorted sarcastically.

“Your mouth sure has become slicker!” Wang Quan gritted her teeth, wishing she could tear Xin Zaozao’s mouth apart.

Xin Zaozao didn’t want to waste time with Wang Quan. She turned around, “State your business, I’m busy.”

Wang Quan watched Xin Zaozao’s retreating figure.

She sat on the office chair, maintaining an air of superiority even while seated.

Wang Quan walked over, looking at Xin Zaozao posturing so ostentatiously, she coldly declared, “Mu Cidian has woken up.”

So what?!

Xin Zaozao raised an eyebrow, her expression unchanging.

“Xin Zaozao! Mu Cidian committed murder and has been seriously injured for you. Are you really so indifferent?!” Wang Quan screamed.

The sudden outburst made Yan Zihuan, standing at the door, wanting to rush in.

Xin Zaozao gave Yan Zihuan a glance.

Yan Zihuan had no choice but to close the office door for her and didn’t dare to enter either.

“Who caused all of this?” Xin Zaozao laughed sardonically. “The person who should feel guilty, remorseful, and reflective isn’t me!”

“Xin Zaozao!” Wang Quan gritted her teeth.

Despite Wang Quan’s dramatic behavior, Xin Zaozao’s reaction was calm, “Since you, as Mu Cidian’s mother, can completely disregard Mu Cidian’s life and death, why should I care about his well-being?!”

“Don’t you feel anything for him at all?” Wang Quan exploded in anger.

“What feelings could there be?” Xin Zaozao asked in return, her face giving away nothing of consequence. “After being toyed with by you and Mu Cidian, do you expect me to have feelings for Mu Cidian? Do you think I’m some sort of saint? Wang Quan, if you can be so cruel to your own son, do you think there’s still a woman in this world who would fall for him?! Doesn’t your logic seem a bit laughable to you?”

“You’re vicious indeed!” Wang Quan spoke slowly, her anger simmering.

“Even so, I wouldn’t be cruel enough to hurt my own child.”

“If Mu Cidian knows you’re treating him like this, he won’t be able to rest in peace.”

“No, the only thing he won’t be able to rest in peace about is the way you control and torment him. I’m just acting in accordance with your wishes.”

“So, you’re just going to wash your hands of Mu Cidian no matter what happens to him?” Wang Quan asked her coldly.

Xin Zaozao sneered, “Of course I care! You’ve driven me to this point, if I don’t become even more ruthless, I’d be failing myself!”

“What are you planning to do?” Wang Quan watched her in fear.

The Xin Zaozao standing in front of her now was completely uncontrollable. Wang Quan even suspected that she could do something even more brutal.

“The police said that my statement can directly impact Mu Cidian’s sentence. I could talk about premeditated murder, manslaughter or self-defense. It’s up to me because I was the only one at the scene and also the victim, so the police would highly trust my words.”

Wang Quan stared at her intensively.

“Now that Mu Cidian has woken up, the trial shouldn’t be far away. So… what do you think I should say in court?”

“Xin Zaozao! Everything Mu Cidian did, who was it for? You’re so heartless, do you not fear retribution?!”

“What Mu Cidian did to me is his business; I didn’t ask him to do anything and I don’t care. As for what you did to me, I am clear!” Xin Zaozao stressed every word.

Wang Quan was about to explode in rage.

“Actually.” Xin Zaozao suddenly stood up from her chair. “I can let Mu Cidian go.”

Wang Quan looked at her warily.

She didn’t believe that the present Xin Zaozao could be persuaded by her few words.

Xin Zaozao said, “I will testify that Mu Cidian was defending himself legally, and you will admit in court that you were behind this kidnap and rape case!”
