Chapter 359: Escaping Responsibilities Part 2
Michael nodded, taking her hand as they walked inside. They ordered coffee and a selection of local delicacies: ensaymada, bibingka, and pastillas. Sitting at a cozy table near the window, they enjoyed their breakfast while watching the local life go by.
"This is nice," Michael said, taking a sip of his coffee. "Just the two of us, no meetings, no schedules."
Bridget smiled. "It\'s perfect. Let\'s make the most of it."
After their leisurely breakfast, they continued their journey northward. The lush greenery of the countryside enveloped them as they drove through the scenic roads of Tarlac. They decided to take a short detour to the Monasterio de Tarlac, a serene and spiritual place nestled on top of Mount Resurrection. The monastery offered a breathtaking view of the surrounding hills and a sense of peace.
Standing at the edge of the viewpoint, Bridget took a deep breath. "It\'s so beautiful here, Michael. I\'m glad we stopped."
Michael wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "Me too. It\'s good to take a moment and just appreciate everything."
Back on the road, their next destination was the historic town of Vigan in Ilocos Sur. The cobblestone streets and Spanish colonial architecture transported them back in time. They parked the Lamborghini and strolled hand in hand through Calle Crisologo, admiring the well-preserved heritage houses and local shops.
"Let\'s get something for Juliet," Bridget suggested, pointing to a shop selling handmade pottery and woven goods.
They spent the afternoon exploring the town, visiting the Bantay Bell Tower and the Syquia Mansion. For lunch, they dined at a local restaurant, savoring authentic Ilocano dishes like Vigan longganisa, empanada, and pinakbet.
"This food is amazing," Bridget said between bites. "I\'ve never tasted anything like it."
Michael nodded in agreement. "It\'s definitely worth the trip."
As the sun began to set, they made their way to their next stop: Pagudpud in Ilocos Norte. Known for its pristine beaches and stunning coastal views, Pagudpud was the perfect place to unwind after a day of driving. They checked into a beachfront resort, their room offering a panoramic view of the azure waters.
That evening, they took a walk along the beach, the cool sand beneath their feet and the gentle waves lapping at the shore. The sky was painted with hues of orange and pink as the sun dipped below the horizon.
"I could stay here forever," Bridget said, leaning her head on Michael\'s shoulder.
Michael smiled, his arm around her waist. "Me too. But we still have so much to see."
The next morning, they were back on the road, heading toward the mountainous region of Sagada. The winding roads offered breathtaking views of terraced rice fields and mist-covered hills. They arrived in Sagada just in time for lunch and decided to try the famous lemon pie at the local Lemon Pie House.
"This pie is delicious," Michael said, savoring each bite.
Bridget nodded. "I\'ve heard about this place. It\'s a must-visit."
They spent the afternoon exploring the natural wonders of Sagada, including the Sumaguing Cave and the hanging coffins. The unique culture and traditions of the region fascinated them both.
"I can\'t believe how much there is to see here," Bridget said as they hiked back from the coffins. "Every place we\'ve visited has its own charm."
Michael agreed. "It\'s been an incredible trip so far. I feel like we\'re discovering a whole new side of the Philippines."
Their journey continued to Baguio, the country\'s summer capital. The cool mountain air was a refreshing change from the tropical heat. They visited the bustling Baguio City Market, where they bought fresh strawberries and local crafts. They also made a stop at Camp John Hay, enjoying a leisurely walk through the pine-scented trails.
"This place has such a different vibe," Bridget said, looking around at the towering pine trees. "It\'s like we\'re in another country."
Michael smiled. "That\'s the beauty of the Philippines. So much diversity in one place."
For dinner, they headed to a cozy restaurant in Baguio that offered a stunning view of the city lights. They enjoyed a hearty meal of traditional Filipino dishes, including bulalo and kare-kare, while reminiscing about their adventure so far.
"What\'s been your favorite part of the trip?" Michael asked, pouring them each a glass of wine.
Bridget thought for a moment. "It\'s hard to choose. Every place has been so special. But I think the quiet moments with you have been the best."
Michael raised his glass. "To more moments like these."
"To more adventures," Bridget echoed, clinking her glass against his.
The next day, they began their drive back to Manila, taking their time to enjoy the journey. They made a final stop in Pampanga to visit the Clark Freeport Zone, where they explored the aviation museum and took a quick tour of the old airbase.
As they drove the last stretch back to the city, Bridget looked at Michael with a contented smile. "Thank you for this trip. It\'s been amazing."
Michael reached over and took her hand. "Thank you for being here with me. It\'s been perfect because of you."
Michael and Bridget approached the familiar skyline of Manila, feeling a deep sense of satisfaction and contentment. The North Luzon Loop had been an unforgettable journey, filled with beautiful sights, delicious food, and precious moments shared together.
"What\'s next on our adventure list?" Bridget asked.
Michael chuckled. "How about the south?"
Bridget smiled, nodding. "That sounds perfect."
As they navigated through the streets of BGC, Michael\'s phone buzzed with notifications. He glanced at the screen and saw messages from Juliet, but decided to ignore them for now. Today was about Bridget and him, and he wanted to savor every moment.
They finally arrived at Michael\'s penthouse, and he parked the Lamborghini in the underground garage.
