Chapter 72: Mind Fleet Leviathan

Mind Fleets of the Mind Flayer species were extremely dangerous and very powerful, especially if the Elder Brain was present. Mind Flayers had very powerful Psionic Powers; in the entire universe, there are not many species that are Psionically as powerful and talented as the Mind Flayers.

And their technology was also really unique and advanced, though the Mind Flayers didn\'t have a unified technology tree as every single Mind Fleet was practically unique. Every single one had a different degree of technology, and some of them even developed their unique and particular branches of Mind Flayer technology.

Fortunately, for most of the universe, various Mind Fleets under the commands of their particular Hiveminds and Elder Brain refused to cooperate with each other, or they would be a much bigger problem.

Still, sometimes, it was thought that even High-Level Civilizations would have to deal with some of the more powerful Mind Fleets if they raided their territories with their full force.

Arcturus was standing on the deck of the Obscurus, waiting for the command from the Admirals as Red Queen already activated the stealth systems of his beloved starship, and they started slowly approaching the Mind Fleet Leviathan.

Obviously, they were taking a longer route, way underneath the lines where the Mind Flayers and Imperials were fighting, as he was supposed to approach as much as possible and activate the Psion-Disruption Device.

When the Mind Flayers were hit by the first way of the Psionic Nullification, he would once again return to the safe lines behind the Imperial Line. The sole reason why he needed to approach this close was for the initial way that would be created by the Psion-Disruption Device.

The wave that was created after the Psion-Disruption Device was initially activated wasn\'t particularly big, but under certain circumstances, it could be used as a very effective weapon.

The Imperial High Command wanted to use the wave as a weapon to give Mind Flayers a nice welcome gift when they arrived at the Alaric Star Domain. They were also using the Star Mercenary like Arcturus for the mission because even if the Mind Flayers detected his ship, they would be too arrogant to even consider the opportunity that some lowly Star Mercenary would be entrusted with such a task.

Aside from the sheer fact that from what he knew from Bator-Commandant Irene Verinus Tarun, all Star Mercenaries that were asked with this mission resolutely denied this mission because it was too dangerous.

He could understand this viewpoint.

Even though the Star Mercenaries were rather greedy for the rewards promised by the Phoenix Empire, they were also aware that against the Mind Fleet... such requests were laughable because none of the Star Mercenaries would be able to escape alive if the Mind Flaers targetted them during this battle.

It also didn\'t really help that within the borders of the Imperium, there were no powerful Star Mercenaries or Bounty Hunters due to the policies of the Eternal Empire of the Asurya, which didn\'t have a good relationship with them.

But Arcturus was confident in his capabilities and that of the Obscurus to remain hidden as long as possible. Additionally, after some tweaks and upgrades, Obscurus was upgraded by the Red Queen rather a lot.

<We are approaching the vicinity of the outer perimeter. Activating the energy absorbers. Activating the secondary shields. Activating the backup engines.>

When he heard the voice of the Red Queen, Arcutrus new that they were already nearing the position of the Mind Fleet Leviathan, which was in a very intense exchange with the Imperial Defense Fleet, with both sides suffering losses.

"Continue forward, try to navigate, and avoid being hit; our shields can withstand only so much of it..."

Atrcuturs was already gathering some money to buy some more advanced shield generators, preferably some of the military-grade that the Eternal Imperium was using because his current ones that were installed on the Obscurus couldn\'t withstand the firepower of the Mind Flayer state-of-art weaponry for a prolonged amount of time.

Even with the Red Queen modifications and absolute control over the starship, it was mission impossible. Unfortunately for Arcturus, obtaining military-grade weapons that the Imperial Navy was using for his spaceship wasn\'t possible for ordinary people.

One needed to have a very significant contribution to the Imperium to be allowed to buy such things, and even then, it would be in limited quantities. Even though the Imperium was a "monarchy" as they had elected monarchs and had various Noble Lineages, their power was strictly controlled and limited.

This was due to the fact, that some of the more traditional monarchies in the known universe, nobility and various factions had more power than the monarch of government, that was the state which the Asuryani needed to prevent at any cosnts.

Such outcomes often led to civil wars and rebellions.

<Master, there is an incoming transmission from the Starfort Lycurgos, Code: Bator-Commandant Tarun.>

He nodded, allowing Red Queen to patch it up, and soon enough, a holographic projection of a very familiar figure appeared in front of him. Bator-Commandant Irene Verinus Tarun, with her already signature short-cut black hair and piercing eyes, got connected.

"Bashar-General has relayed his orders that it would be preferable if you could remain at the position for as long as possible."

Just a few moments ago, he finished the call with his master, and now someone from the Imperial Military was calling him.

"I know... Master already called me about the situation, and it seems that he is going to act personally this time."

It was rare to see a showdown between two Psionic Beings that reached the top. Beyonders rarely fought each other because it was always a very highly destructive fight that could destroy plants as casually as breathing.

Thus, there was a tacit understanding between the High-Level Civilizations, Independent Factions, and powerful Beoynder Factions that the powerful Beyonders shouldn\'t be fighting each other in the Star Systems with advanced life.

It wasn\'t restriction per se, because nobody could really force powerful Beyonders to do something that they didn\'t really wish.

"You should be careful... Grandmaster Arsit Byrmellir is one of the most powerful Beyonders in the entire Andromeda Galaxy and someone with extremely destructive Super-High Risk Primal Psyker Ability, Destruction Authority."

Hearing this, Arcturus didn\'t really know what to think about the situation because, from all interactions that they had with Irene Tarun, this was rather a rout of her character... to actually show concern about someone else.

Beneath her cold exterior she was rather pleasant or whatever...

At the same time, Arcturus was rather excited because this would be the first time he would see two Beyonder, Higher Cosmic Lifeforms fight against each other. Not to mention, his master also possessed Super-High Risk Primal Psyker Ability, Destruction Authority.

His master never really used it in front of him because the ability was too destructive to be used freely, and one mishap could cause the destruction of the entire Starfort Lycurgos and obliterate the entire place.

"I will be... also... I don\'t know if it is appropriate, but do you think that he would be okay?"

This was something that Arcturus didn\'t have from a verified source, but he had the feeling for a very long time. He knew that his master was suffering from some rather severe injuries, and he wasn\'t in his best condition.

"Hopefully. It seems that the Elder Brain that is leading the Mind Fleet Leviathan isn\'t particularly powerful, and if the plan with the Psion-Disruption Wave affects even the Elder Brain, then there is nothing to fear."

Hearing her words, he pondered over her words for some time, and in the end, he was forced to agree with the statement.

"At least something.. the old man would never answer when I asked about this."

In fact, Arcturus asked this only once, and after receiving a stern glare from his master and his training increased ten times in difficulty and amount, he just stopped.

"I need to go... good luck on the mission."

She then quickly ended the call as her holographic projection dispersed.

Arcturus sighed a bit, as he didn\'t even get the opportunity to say goodbye, but for now, there were more pressing matters, because during the time they were talking, Obscurus was already close to the Mind Fleet Leviathan, and the mission he was tasked with could officially start.
