Chapter 177: Club Activities (4)
Dawn Frisk.
Was the last leader of the Golden Horizon before disbanding.
His sudden announcement and everyone\'s questions had preempted any media speculations about Garrick\'s disappearance.
To the world, Garrick might still be in the Towers, a beacon of hope lost in the depths.
But I knew the truth of his fate. Others believed he might return, but years had passed...
Avalon Azira\'s voice, rich and resonant, filled the exhibition hall.
He began to recount the history of each artifact on display, explaining the tales of epic battles, and the extraordinary adventurers who once wielded their power.
His words painted vivid pictures in my mind, bringing to life the stories I had once confined to the pages of my novel.
Beside me, Camila listened intently, her eyes sparkling with a mix of awe and recognition.
"I can\'t believe we\'re actually hearing this from Avalon Azira himself,"
She whispered, her voice barely audible above the Legend\'s booming voice.
"I\'ve read so much about him, Garrick, Vincent, and even Dawn Frisk. They were practically legends during their time in the Golden Horizon."
"Yeah," I replied, keeping my voice low. "They definitely left their mark on history."
As Avalon moved on to the next artifact on stage, a beautifully crafted dagger with a shimmering sapphire hilt, Camila leaned towards me.
"Do you think those stories about them are true?" she asked, her eyes wide with curiosity. "The tales of \'that\' battle?"
Tales of that battle?
What did she mean by that?
hmm...
Tales of that battle...
oh...
When I realized what she was talking about, it clicked: she was referring to The Battle of the Eternal Tree.
I paused for a moment, considering how much I could reveal without raising suspicion.
But knowing so much about the incident was already too much.
"There\'s usually some truth to legends," I replied. "But the real story is often more complicated than we hear."
Camila nodded thoughtfully, her gaze returning to the dagger.
"I wonder what it would be like to wield such power and be capable of doing that..."
she mused, her voice filled with a wistful longing.
Thank god she bought it at least.
"It\'s not all sunshine and rainbows," I paused, "Power like that can be a dangerous thing."
Camila glanced at me, a flicker of surprise in her eyes. "Wow, that\'s... deep, Rel."
I shrugged, a small smile playing on my lips. "Even I can appreciate a good story."
As we continued to explore the exhibition, Camila peppered me with questions about the history of Golden Horizon, their abilities, and their motivations.
I answered as best I could carefully avoiding any details that might expose my true identity...
Then a few minutes later, Avalon Azira concluded his speech and introduction.
"And now, my esteemed guests," he declared, gesturing towards the rows of illuminated displays,
"I invite you to explore my humble collection at your leisure. Dawn and I will be mingling amongst you, happy to answer any questions or share the stories behind these remarkable artifacts."
With a gentle nod, he stepped down from the platform, Dawn following close behind.
The crowd dispersed, drawn like moths to a flame to the gleaming artifacts.
Camila and I drifted along, our eyes scanning the exhibits with a mix of curiosity and wonder.
As we rounded a corner, we nearly collided with the towering figures of Avalon and Dawn, their height even more imposing up close.
"Woah," I muttered under my breath. "I don\'t recall them being giants..."
I took a few steps back seeing both their faces in view.
I glanced at Camila and her face was flushed with excitement.
"Oh...My...God..."
Avalon\'s eyes, the same piercing blue settled on Camila.
A warm smile spread across his face, softening his otherwise stern features.
"Well, well," he chuckled, "aren\'t you the spitting image of your mother, Liana."
Camila\'s eyes widened in surprise. "You knew my mother?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper.
Avalon and Dawn exchanged a knowing glance both their smiles widening.
"Indeed we did,"
Dawn replied, his deep voice rumbling through the air.
"She was a promising apprentice in our guild many, many, years ago."
"A talented healer," Avalon added, his eyes twinkling with fond memories.
"But after she met your father during our expedition to the dungeons in Spain, she left to pursue her career in medicine."
Camila was speechless, her face a mixture of disbelief and delight.
Even though I was surprised by this information, I wouldn\'t have expected her mother to have been linked as an apprentice to Golden Horizon.
All the pieces about them are just connecting.
It made sense in my head, though this wasn\'t a part of what I wrote.
This was basically a scene and an event outside of the novel.
Camila, her eyes wide with surprise and delight, turned back to Avalon and Dawn.
"Do you know why she left?" she asked, her voice eager.
Avalon\'s eyes crinkled at the corners as he glanced at Dawn, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
But before he could respond, Dawn swiftly brought his fist down on Avalon\'s head.
THWACK!
"A-hem," Dawn cleared his throat, regaining his composure.
"She left because you were going to be born, of course."
Avalon rubbed his head, a playful pout on his lips. "Hey, what was that for?"
"We may be old, but your humor is still as terrible as ever," Dawn retorted with a gruff chuckle.
Avalon shrugged, a sly grin returning to his face. "You have me mistaken, Vice-Leader."
THWACK!
Another smack landed on Avalon\'s head.
"Idiot," Dawn said, a hint of amusement in his voice. "I\'m not the Vice-Leader anymore."
A wave of nostalgia washed over Avalon. "Right," he said softly, his smile fading slightly.
"I forgot. Golden Horizon is no more."
I watched the exchange between the two old friends, a warmth spreading through my chest.
I wondered if they were always like this.
As I turned my head towards Camila, she seemed dazed.
"She never mentioned any of this," she admitted.
Dawn\'s gaze softened, a gentle hand resting on her shoulder.
"Your mother was a woman of few words, but her actions spoke volumes."
"I remember her telling me, just before she left, that she wanted you to follow in her footsteps—to become someone who could make a difference in the world."
A soft smile bloomed on Camila\'s face.
"Wow," she breathed, a hint of awe in her voice. "I never knew."
