Chapter 735: Is He Recruiting Me?
His smile widened, "No need to play dumb with me. That thing about saying my name isn\'t present here is something that only people of our world would say."
Damnit…
I crossed my arms, "So you\'re an Off-Worlder too then."
He huffed, "You probably already knew I was one when I walked in didn\'t you? I don\'t try to hide my disgust in their abhorrent custom of fucking animals and beasts."
Err… Correct me if I\'m wrong but I think he just called all the other races animals and beasts didn\'t he?
All the signs are basically outing him as the one I was looking for right now but I\'ll try and dig a little bit more just in case.
I gestured to the seat beside me, "Sure, wanna take a seat? I didn\'t expect to see another Off-Worlder here."
He scoffed before he made a shooing motion at me, "If you want me to join you, you\'re the one who should be moving. That\'s my usual seat and I\'m not giving it up to anyone else, not even you."
I shrugged, figuring that it wasn\'t really a big deal anyway so I moved over a seat to the right.
He huffed before taking a seat at the place I vacated before looking around.
"Where\'s the bartender?"
"In the kitchens making something for me, since their chef is… Well… Otherwise indisposed at the moment."
He looked towards the pile of unconscious people and sneered before turning back to me.
"So what\'s your deal? Are you one of those stupid ones who accepted your place in this world?"
I raised an eyebrow, "What do you mean by that?"
"I meant if you\'re one of those idiots who rolled over and let yourself be conquered by this world."
What the fuck is this guy even talking about?
I tilted my head at him, "I seriously don\'t understand what you\'re talking about right now."
He gestured towards the pile of unconscious people, "Look at them. Don\'t you feel anything about such a sight?"
I didn\'t even bother looking and shrugged, "I mean… That\'s their culture right? In fact, this is something that is accepted by the entire World isn\'t it? We are just outsiders who just happen to be brought here. That doesn\'t give us the right to butt in and decide things for them just because things are different in our own World."
He snorted, "I fucking knew it. Girls like you are just happy that you get to fuck around more right? I know your type. You like to get fucked by weird cocks because your snatch is already loose from all the cocks you took."
Wow… What the heck? Did he really just say all that?
I considered telling him that I was a futa but I had a feeling that the information would trigger him even more so I refrained from doing so.
Instead, I simply shook my head, "I\'ll have you know that I\'m still a virgin down there. Also, I\'m just the kind of person who wouldn\'t force their own beliefs on someone else and demonise them for having a different idea than I do."
"Hmph, typical thing of a spineless bitch to say. I suppose I should not have expected much from a stupid woman like you."
Oh gods, I want to punch his face so bad.
He continued, "Do you not understand at all? We were literally sent here by Gods! Literal Gods! They saw us as people special enough to give us such attention and sent us over here! Do you even understand what that means?!"
"Err… Didn\'t we just get sent over because someone else fucked up and they would get fucked if they didn\'t someone fix this?"
He let out a bark of laughter, "Ahahaha! You really don\'t get it huh?! They sent us here because they obviously saw us as the superior group and thus the better one to live in this world instead! We are the ones who should own this world, not these stupid savages who don\'t even have modern technology!"
Ughh… I feel like I\'m losing brain cells by talking to this guy…
Thankfully I was saved when the door to the kitchen opened and Loster returned with the mug of hot chocolate that I ordered.
She walked over to me and barely had time to place the mug in front of me before the Off-Worlder growled at him, "Finally! Where were you? Do you even still want to work?!"
Loster rolled her single visible eye and ignored him in favour of pulling out a mug to start pouring in beer in front of him.
She shot me a look as a silent way of asking if I was seriously trying to get help from this guy so I just scrunched up my face and shrugged.
She understood that I was still scoping him out and left after pouring him his beer, standing far enough from us at the other end of the bar so that she would be out of earshot but close enough to approach us if we were to call for her.
He picked up his mug of beer and took a good chug of it before plopping it back down on the counter.
"Haaa! At least I can say that they still have good beer! So what the hell are you doing here?"
I gestured to the sword on my hip, "I\'m a Mercenary now and I\'m looking for work."
He looked me up and down, "You? A girl? Doing physical labour and actually fighting? Are you serious?"
I rolled my eyes, "Yes, because in this World, there\'s magic to make up for the physical differences in case you forgot. Seeing that you are a mage yourself, I\'m more surprised that you actually still cling to that idea."
He smirked, "Oh no, I\'m just more surprised that you can even stand the thought of doing such a line of dirty work as people like you would call it."
"Yes, but luckily I\'m not like most people."
He then took another gulp of his beer while I took a sip of my hot chocolate.
Mmmmm~ Sweet~
That Off-Worlder seemed to think for a moment before turning to me, "Hey, just curious. If you could stand above all these people, would you?"
I was just about to tell him that I did not before I stopped myself.
Wait… Could he be trying to recruit me? Was he testing me the entire time?
Shit, I might have fucked up a little… No worries, this isn\'t unsalvageable.
I made a show of keeping quiet to pretend like I was thinking about it before turning to him, "Just between the two of us? Yes."
He grinned, "Oh? What happened to not imposing your own ideals on others?"
I rolled my eyes, "I do not need to impose my own ideals to stand above them do I? To force them to accept my own ideals is like saying that I have to go down to their level."
"Huh? Ahahaha! So you\'re actually that kind of girl then?!"
I tilted my head, "What kind of girl? You\'ve been making so many assumptions about me despite meeting me for the first time today."
"Oh I know exactly what kind of person you are now. I was wrong earlier. You\'re not one of those sluts! You\'re actually the kind of girl who thinks you don\'t need a man because you\'re better than everyone else! You don\'t care about their so-called \'culture\' because you don\'t even see them as being equal to you! Ahahahaha!"
That is so incorrect that it actually physically hurt me to keep my mouth shut about it.
Still, I managed to make it look like I was just annoyed that he saw through me which only made him laugh even louder.
He then drank the rest of the beer before slamming it down to get Loster\'s attention to refill it.
She came over begrudgingly, still giving me a look that wondered why I was still sitting with him.
I gave her a slight shake of the head to tell her I had it handled. Seriously, I thought you said he was quiet and kept to himself? He\'s completely different from what you said he would be like…
She shrugged and left again.
He waited for her to get out of earshot again before smiling at me, "Hey. How many other Off-Worlders have you met so far?"
I shrugged, "I don\'t keep track."
"Oh, did any of them say anything about being part of a community?"
I pretended to think again before shaking my head, "Actually no. There was one who was also a Mercenary and had his own party if that counts?"
"No, no. I meant like their own community of only Off-Worlders like us."
"In that case, no. Why?"
He then jerked his thumb at himself, "Because I\'m part of one and we\'re going to make this world a better place for us. You interested?"
…
Jackpot.
