Chapter 746: See? You're All Trashier
Race: Monster
Stats:
40 Strength
65 Dexterity
45 Endurance
55 Magic
Magic Skills:
Geomancy (Tier 1), Ammosmancy (Tier 1)]
Huh… That\'s a new magic that I\'ve never seen before?
Judging by the fact that it appeared from under the sand, I\'m assuming that it\'s a skill that allows that monster to manipulate the sand or something? But I thought that was covered under Geomancy?
I didn\'t have time to think too much about it since the other monsters started to attack.
"Tanks! Draw their aggro! Mages! Slow down their movements!! Archers, stop any of them from reaching the mages!" One of the Mercs shouted.
I assume this is a Mercenary group since they were coordinating quite well despite the overwhelming odds.
Trusting those guys to at least be able to hold their own, I focused my attention on the Dune Striders heading for me instead.
Two of them lunged towards me, one aiming for my neck while the other was trying to bite my arm.
I swung my sword downwards while charging my fist with [Lightning Clad], cutting the first Dune Strider into two as easily as the others.
The one that tried to bite my arm got a lightning infused punch across its jaw instead, the blow sending the monster flying back to crash into another group of them and toppling them over like bowling pins.
One of the monsters roared and a chunk of earth appeared above its head before flying towards my head.
I didn\'t even bother avoiding it and simply punched it with my fist to destroy the projectile before sending an even bigger chunk of earth at the monster in retaliation.
The monster had a dumb look of surprise on its face before the giant rock smashed into it, flattening the monster into an unrecognisable meat paste.
Even more of them started charging towards me despite my display of strength, leading me to believe they were either not capable of understanding the difference in strength between us or the Alpha was forcing them to attack despite the clear difference.
Or maybe they just believe they stood a chance with this number, I dunno.
I guess I should show them how wrong they were.
They tried to surround me but I wasn\'t letting them do that as I shot out a [Fire Blast] to try and burn them.
Surprisingly, they shrugged off the flames and one of them even leapt through it like the fire wasn\'t even there.
I\'m guessing these monsters have some kind of heat immunity or something seeing that they are monsters that live in the desert, after all.
I used [Link Portal] to create a portal in front of me with the exit placed in the space behind me, making the Dune Strider that leapt at me to jump into the portal instead.
It ended up getting teleported behind me, causing it to crash into another Dune Strider that had tried to attack me from behind.
Two more jumped at me from my left and right while another one shot an [Earth Ball] at me.
I took a step to the right to avoid the [Earth Ball] while stabbing my Light Sword to skewer the monster lunging at me from the same side.
The other Dune Strider thought it had managed to catch me off guard from the left until my hand shot out to grab its neck, crushing its throat with my hand to kill it before I tossed its corpse at the one that tried to throw a rock at me.
I then used the dead Dune Strider as an impromptu shield as I spun around to block another lump of earth thrown at me from behind.
Using my foot, I braced it against the corpse stuck to my sword before kicking it off my blade, sending the corpse hurtling forward to smash into another Dune Strider and flattening it.
Taking advantage of the short lull in their attacks, I spread my wings to take to the skies, aiming to take out their Alpha.
The Dune Strider Alpha seemed to have realised my intentions since it immediately locked its gaze with mine while letting out a threatening growl, as though daring me to attack it.
If you insist.
I pointed my palm at it, intending to shoot a [Spark Strike] at it when sand suddenly rose up from the ground around its feet to hide it from view.
Thinking that it was trying to run away, I shot my spell at the sand but the lightning bolt struck against the surface of the sand and failed to penetrate it.
I was just about to toss a giant boulder at it when the sand fell back down to reveal the Dune Strider Alpha was no longer there.
Huh… Did it actually run away?
The other Dune Striders were still attacking the caravan though, so if I had to guess, it simply hid itself underneath the sand.
This is annoying…
I guess I should just take care of the mobs first then.
The Mercs seem to be doing well since most of the Dune Striders had been concentrated on me, allowing them an easier time to deal with the ones on their side of the battle.
I tucked my wings and dropped back down towards the crowd of Dune Striders, landing on top of one and crushing its head under my boot.
Counting twelve more enemies on this side, I decided to wipe them out quickly by firing a [Laser] that pierced through three of them in a straight line before lopping off the head of another one with my Light Sword.
One tried to growl at me so I lunged forward and grabbed it by its throat and lifted it over my head before smashing it down into the sand.
I raised my hand and materialised three pieces of stone the size of my fist and reshaped them into arrows before launching them forward with a blast of wind.
The stone projectiles smashed through the heads of three more Dune Striders, leaving a clean hole through their heads and killing them instantly.
The last four tried to summon balls of earth to throw at me so I raised a wall of stone to block their projectiles before sending the wall forward in an attempt to smash into them.
Three of them managed to leap out of the way in time, leaving the last one to get smashed by the rock wall, the Dune Strider flying off into the distance from the impact.
I raised my palm and targeted one of them with a [Spark Strike], the lightning bolt hitting it on the head and blowing its skull apart.
I expected the last two to run or at least hesitate since I literally killed pretty much all of them in an instant but they still tried to attack me by flinging more rocks at me.
Both projectiles were deflected away by my Light Sword before I rushed forward and stabbed my blade into the head of the one on my right.
As I turned to prepare to kill the last Dune Strider however, I felt the sand beneath me rumble right before the ground in front of me exploded upwards, revealing the Dune Strider Alpha appearing from below.
It opened its jaws wide, as though intending to snap my head off with a single bite.
I dropped my sword and reached out my hands, grabbing the top and bottom of its jaws and stopping it from reaching my face.
The monster tried to push forward, only to realise that it couldn\'t budge and its eyes widened as it finally understood the difference between our strengths.
Too bad for this guy, it\'s a little too late now.
I pulled my hands apart and tore the monster literally in half with a loud rip, as if I was simply tearing two pieces of paper apart.
Bleh… Should have thought that through since that made its blood splash on to me…
The effects of its death was instantaneous as the other Dune Striders let out distressed howls before they dispersed and ran in different directions.
I dropped the two halves of the corpse on the ground before summoning an orb of water that I used to wash myself of the blood and then drying myself off.
Magic really is convenient.
Picking up my sword, I went over to the Mercs to find most of them had collapsed on the ground.
At first I thought they suffered casualties until I realised they collapsed from exhaustion and relief, not because they were dead.
It was only then did I realise that pretty much all of them were females. Or at least, I believe they were all females since they might be futas too.
A few of them were shooting me grateful looks but it looks like they\'re all too exhausted to do anything aside from just laying in the sand.
I guess I\'ll just let their healers do their work and wait for them to recover from that fight first. Then after that, we can talk about payment.
What? You didn\'t think I helped them for free did you?
