Legacy of the Dark Sage

Chapter 945 Changing Another One

Chapter 945  Changing Another One

On the other hand, Euan felt wronged. Had he not emphasized his inability to protect Cyneah enough, to the point he had to resort to underhanded tricks such as using potions to influence another person? Why was Kyran looking at him with such contempt?

In the first place, Euan was Cyneah\'s biological father; if Kyran was interested in her, should he not show ample respect to win his favor?

Was this how future son-in-laws acted in front of their future father-in-law nowadays?

Fortunately, Cyneah could not read minds. If she knew her birth father had already referred to Kyran as his future son-in-law, she would have been embarrassed to the point of wanting to burrow herself in the ground.

"I understand that the binding power of Somuli\'s pact can protect Neah, but there should be other ways you could have protected her," Kyran suddenly added with a sigh. He knew getting angry at what Euan did to ensure Cyneah\'s safety was pointless at this point in time. However, he believed there was a better way to ensure her safety without having his daughter be engaged with someone she barely knew.

"If I am correct, the pact happened before you ordered the Nobles to pull out from their borders. If you had continued to pressure the Eidums and acted like, in your fit of anger, you ordered them to withdraw, but in truth, you were planning to use them and create a situation where you could have the Nobles force their way into the Land of the Eidums and abduct Neah.

"The old man is clairvoyant; he would have seen you plotting an abduction. To prevent that, he will send Neah away. And the best place to hide her is the Eidum\'s border because, just as you said, its defensive array can protect her."

The Somulian\'s lack of Array knowledge played a huge role.

Cyneah turned her head slightly in Kyran\'s direction with an exasperated expression.

"You... how is it that you always think abduction is a possible solution? Not everyone has the hobby of abducting people like you."

Kyran almost choked at her comment; he looked at her, feeling somewhat wronged, and replied, "I don\'t have that hobby."

"Is that so? How many people have you abducted till this day?"

Kyran was speechless. As far as he was concerned, Zephyr was the only one he abducted. And even then, he only brought him away to save and subdue him.

Meanwhile, Euan could not help but raise his brows at their exchange. Their exchange was brief, with little context to it that prevented outsiders from understanding them. But it was precisely because of this that he sensed their deep bond.

Euan inwardly breathed a sigh of relief. He was glad that the person who found his daughter in her time of need had been Kyran.

"I suppose you are right," he said, looking at Kyran with a slight smile.

Cyneah frowned slightly as if annoyed that Euan did consider Kyran\'s abduction plan.

Seeing Cyneah\'s furrowed brows, Euan immediately cleared his throat and reasoned, "That action is actually very Anshel-like, in my opinion. If I had done that, I would have removed any doubts his subjects harbored about me."

"Where is Anshel now?" Kyran asked as soon as Euan finished speaking. He did not want to continue the conversation about his abduction hobby.

"Sealed in one of the towers in the Kingdom of Cretea. The incident where I tried to use poison to kill him was not a secret in the Inner Court. However, the result was only known to the three of us: Gage, me, and Anshel himself.

"I made it appear like I had failed, and Anshel sealed me in the tower."

"Did not Anshel\'s subjects doubt his decision to seal you rather than kill you?"

"They did," Euan admitted. "However, I told them that even though I failed to poison Anshel, I succeeded in binding my life to him. If I die, he dies, and vice versa."

"And they never doubted that you are not Anshel?"

Euan smiled wryly, "I did have his aura. Besides..." he paused and raised his hand. After that, a red Amaryllis appeared, hovering on his palm, "I can summon his Divine Armament."

Kyran raised his brows in surprise. He did not expect the most powerful noble in the Kingdom of Cretea to possess a unique Divine Armament.

Cyneah also looked at the glowing Amaryllis on Euan\'s hand. She could barely make out its form because of the light it emitted, but she more or less knew that it was a flower.

"Anshel\'s Divine Armament falls under the unconventional type. Its shape is like a flower, with seemingly soft and gentle features. But it was anything but soft or gentle. Its petals are sharp and produce powerful flames."

"If Anshel is also a Fire mage, how did Gage overwhelm him?" Kyran wondered aloud. He was not expecting an answer, to be honest. Besides, a fight between mages with similar innate magic was not really uncommon. At most, they could neutralize each other\'s attacks, but the one who could optimize the nature of his flames better would acquire victory.

"Gage is a combat mage, and his flames should not be underestimated. Besides, his defenses are similarly powerful. In a prolonged fight, Anshel, who had a weak body, did not stand a chance."

But Gage\'s use of magic should have been restricted by Somuli\'s lack of magic energy. How did he manage to win?

Kyran did not voice his doubt because he knew there were powerful spirit stones in Somuli. Gage might have gotten his hands on one and used it during his fight with Anshel. Nonetheless, the chances of that happening were relatively small.

Euan seemed to have sensed what was going through Kyran\'s mind. Thus, he explained, "It is true that Somuli\'s lack of magic energy prevents us from utilizing our magic. However, Gage had no problems wielding his magic because he did not rely much on magic energy."

His expression turned solemn as he added, "He is using the plane\'s mana to wield his magic."

Kyran chuckled after hearing Euan\'s explanation. From this, he now understood why Gael failed to find traces of Gage.

Gael had focused on looking for Gage in places where complete beings dwelled, especially in Howling Pass. He should have tried searching in communities where beast-likes lived.

"Looks like he found his way with the beast-likes and learned their way of using the plane\'s mana to use magic," Kyran remarked, quite impressed at Gage.

"Yes," Euan agreed. "He did say that he arrived at a beast-like community in Somuli when he got transported."

"This means humans can use mana in this plane. The only question is, how."

Euan nodded in agreement. He added with a wry smile, "Gage tried to teach me. However, he was not exactly good at it."

"He is not exactly the brightest," Kyran replied, tongue in cheek.

Euan chuckled, understanding full well what the younger man meant.

"Right," Kyran took a deep breath as he decided to open their primary concern— Nachum\'s ascension. "Let\'s discuss the old man\'s ascension."

"In my opinion, he cannot ascend because of Anshel," Euan immediately voiced his thoughts. "It went without saying, but the title of Somuli\'s Sovereign is the Bulwark, and Nachum\'s Divine Armament is a shield. He should be the real Sovereign of Somuli."

"Yes," Kyran agreed.

He then briefly explained why Nachum did not ascend, resulting in Anshel being presented with an opportunity to become a Sovereign.

"But we can\'t just get rid of Anshel," Euan told Kyran. "It will cause a huge commotion in the Kingdom of Cretea. Even if we hide this fact, his subjects are still there. Besides, if we silence those people, their sudden disappearance will also cause a commotion."

"Not really," Kyran assured Euan. He then looked at Cyneah and said, "Neah can change Anshel, right?"

"\'Change?\'" Euan repeated questioningly.

Cyneah turned her head slightly to Kyran with raised brows, looking like a pure, innocent maiden, "Are you sure you want me to take care of him?"

Kyran smiled, "Yes."

"Alright. I can make him and Aran best friends once they wake up."

"That\'s fine, too."

Euan looked at them in confusion, not following what they discussed.

Kyran looked at Euan, "We can go and deal with Anshel today. Will there be any problem if we do that?"

He wanted to know if Anshel\'s subjects would pose a problem.

Euan shook his head, understanding Kyran\'s concern.

"There shouldn\'t be. But... how exactly do you plan to deal with him." n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

"Neah will take care of it," Kyran replied with a meaningful smile.
