Chapter 85: Want You to Be Mine
Having survived a disaster, Duan Xingye indulged himself with chopsticks in hand.
Bai Chuwei ate a few bites without much interest.
Duan Feihan, whose deep magnetic voice was laced with concern, asked, “Doesn’t it suit your taste?”
Duan Xingye mumbled with his mouth full, “Yeah, Weiwei, weren’t you always looking forward to having a dinner date with my Uncle Duan? Why aren’t you eating?”
Bai Chuwei’s gaze was filled with disdain.
Was eating the point?
She had practiced fasting five thousand years ago, so eating was at most a hobby for her, definitely not a necessity.
After some thought, Bai Chuwei put down her chopsticks and looked at Duan Feihan with a shining gaze.
Her gaze was pure and unabashed, making Duan Feihan feel almost as if she was stripping away his clothes…
“Lord Duan,” Bai Chuwei said with a slight smile, “last time I saved your father, and this time I saved your nephew. Surely you should show some gratitude.”
Duan Xingye spoke up, “My dad is also rich.”
“Shut up!” Bai Chuwei shot a glare back. Was her great ancestor short of money? Did she care about that little bit of money? Ten Duan Families combined wouldn’t have half the wealth she had!
With a shallow smile brimming in her eyes and a twinkle of stars, Bai Chuwei gazed at him, and Duan Feihan’s Adam’s apple moved unconsciously, “Do you… want me to hold you?”
Last time Bai Chuwei had the same request, and the three billion were just a bonus.
“Yes, yes, yes!” If he held her, she wouldn’t have to take the bitter Spiritual Medicine today, so saving Duan Xingye was a good deal.
Duan Feihan knew that Bai Chuwei’s request for a hug meant nothing more and nodded, “Okay.”
Only after getting the answer she wanted did Bai Chuwei pick up her chopsticks and start to eat.
By the time they left the restaurant, it was past nine o’clock at night, and the spring breeze felt a bit chilly.
Duan Xingye was stubbornly begging Bai Chuwei to let him stay at the Bai Family house for the night, which was giving her a headache.
The three of them exited the restaurant to find its entrance glimmering with lights as several valets were trying to shoo away a little girl selling flowers.
“Great ancestor, I almost died today, and I’m bound to have nightmares tonight. Please let me come with you,” Duan Xingye continued to plead in her ear.
Bai Chuwei’s gaze moved from the noisy Duan Xingye to the peaceful and still Duan Feihan.
With Duan Xingye’s temperament, he was unlikely to have nightmares; the one who was likely to have a rough night was… Duan Feihan.
A similar death of his mother in front of him in his childhood caused him twenty years of nightmares. Now, with his nephew’s fall, it would surely be a difficult night for him.
Indeed, Duan Feihan had not planned on sleeping that night and intended to spend it reviewing documents in the study.
Bai Chuwei suddenly stepped into the cool night breeze, took out a hundred-dollar bill, and handed it to the flower-selling girl being chased away: “Give me one, the rest is a tip.”
The little girl was delighted, calling out ‘Sister Fairy’ non-stop.
Bai Chuwei took the vibrant red rose, her fair fingers gently caressing its tender petals as she cast a small spell to aid sleep, then she walked towards the man under the dim street lamp with a gentle smile.
Not until Bai Chuwei handed him the red rose did Duan Feihan’s eyes grow even deeper.
“For you, I hope this flower brings you sweet dreams tonight.”
The group, led by Duan Xingye at the entrance, watched in astonishment. A young girl giving a rose to a grown man?
Duan Feihan looked at the rose and steadied his voice, “Why give me a rose?”
Bai Chuwei’s lips curled slightly, casting a normally enchanting allure under the warm lamp light, “I’m showing favor, I want you to be mine.”
Bai Chuwei had figured it out; rather than always asking for hugs, it was better to make him hers, just like Qi Mo and the other supremely wealthy families. Then, wouldn’t she be free to cuddle and hold him as she pleased?
