Chapter 538: The Three-Headed Demonic Jiao Clan!
Chapter 538: The Three-Headed Demonic Jiao Clan!
When Ling Feng requested his departure from Hai Yunji, Princess Hai Lingxiang was not present.
Ling Feng shook his head, recalling the melancholic look on Hai Lingxiang\'s face when she had left the day before. They were ultimately from different races; he had deceived her, but it was unlikely that they would have another opportunity to meet again.
It seemed that was the case...
"Long Fei, won’t you stay a few more days?"
Hai Yunji asked with a hint of regret. If the Lin Demon Clan could obtain a descendant with the bloodline of the Three-Headed Demonic Jiao, it would undoubtedly enhance their status significantly.
"No," Ling Feng responded as he shook his head. "I wish to first visit the Three-Headed Demonic Jiao Clan in Heavenly Demon City. If there’s a chance in the future, I will certainly visit the Lin Demon Clan again."
"Since you insist, I won’t press further." Hai Yunji presented Ling Feng with some valuable pearls from the Lin Demon Clan, and the elders escorted Ling Feng to the lakeside. They watched until Ling Feng’s figure completely disappeared before returning to their residence.
Back in the palace of the Lin Demon Clan, a trace of irritation appeared on Hai Yunji’s otherwise beautiful face.
"Where is Lingxiang? How could she not appear for such an important departure of a guest?"
A maid who often attended Hai Lingxiang, seeing the chief’s displeased expression, answered cautiously, "After Princess Lingxiang left Lord Long Fei\'s room yesterday, she seemed quite downhearted. This morning, she left alone, and I do not know her whereabouts."
Sigh... Hai Yunji sighed and shook her head. "It seems that the girl might have truly developed feelings for Long Fei. In matters of affection, the one who takes it seriously first is always the one to lose.
"Demons never need emotions!" A trace of weariness appeared in Hai Yunji’s eyes as she took a deep breath and said, "Let the girl calm down on her own for a few days."
...
The Three-Headed Demonic Jiao Clan’s settlement was not too far from the Lin Demon Clan’s. Ling Feng returned to the bustling streets of Heavenly Demon City and, after some inquiries, located the clan’s dwelling.
Compared to the Lin Demon Clan’s settlement, the Three-Headed Demonic Jiao Clan’s stronghold was built into the mountains, with large caves serving as the dwellings for the clan members.
After all, not all demon clans preferred the human way of life.
However, the mountain stronghold of the Three-Headed Demonic Jiao Clan was surprisingly small. Clearly, in Heavenly Demon City, the Three-Headed Demonic Jiao Clan was merely a minor branch, or perhaps their bloodline was not very pure.
The reason for the clan’s decision to abandon their position in Heavenly Demon City and migrate to the northern demon domain was a matter of history.
"Stop! Who\'s there?"
The two guards stationed outside the Three-Headed Demonic Jiao Clan’s entrance were tall and robust.
Unlike the majestic Demonic Jiao Prince Ling Feng had seen in the past, these ordinary clan members had a single sharp horn on their foreheads and large dragon scales covering much of their bodies.
Aside from these features, they resembled humans.
"I am of the Three-Headed Demonic Jiao Clan, just like you."
Ling Feng replied, pulling open his shirt to reveal the clan’s demon mark on his chest.
"What did you say?"
The guards exchanged glances, clearly having never seen such a figure in their clan, especially one so thoroughly transformed.
The guard on the left widened his eyes. "How come I have never seen you before?"
"I am not a member of the Three-Headed Demonic Jiao Clan in Heavenly Demon City," Ling Feng said calmly, standing with his hands behind his back. "Take me to your chief."
Even Demon Emperor Qiongqi hadn\'t been able to recognize that Ling Feng was not a demon, which greatly boosted Ling Feng’s confidence. Moreover, the Three-Headed Demonic Jiao Clan in Heavenly Demon City was merely a branch of the true Three-Headed Demonic Jiao Clan.
Deceiving them would be easy.
Sensing Ling Feng’s pure demonic qi, the two guards, though still somewhat doubtful, did not dare to obstruct him. The guard on the left hesitated for a moment before announcing loudly, “Wait here. I’ll inform the leader!”
Soon, a tall figure clad in black armor approached. He chewed on a piece of grass as he came, eyeing Ling Feng from top to bottom with evident impatience. “You claim to be from the Three-Headed Demonic Jiao Clan?”
“Yes.” Ling Feng nodded and casually said, “I come from the northern demon domain.”
“Pfft.”
The black-armored demon spat out the piece of grass and snorted. “The Three-Headed Demonic Jiao Clan from the northern demon domain? Do you remember us, the minor branch?”
Ling Feng touched his nose, remaining silent. It seemed that this demon was not very friendly towards their northern kin.
“Hmph, get lost!” The black-armored demon frowned and grunted. “We minor branches are not worthy to associate with the main bloodline’s esteemed members!”
Ling Feng frowned slightly. From the looks of it, obtaining a recommendation from the Three-Headed Demonic Jiao Clan would be quite challenging.
An elderly man with gray hair emerged from the depths of the Three-Headed Demonic Jiao Clan’s settlement. He shot a fierce glance at the black-armored demon and scolded, “You brat, don’t be ridiculous!”
The old man then scrutinized Ling Feng, marveling as he said, “Only the most pure royal beast bloodline could achieve such a perfect transformation! Sir, you must be of the royal family from the northern demon domain, correct?”
“Uh...” Ling Feng touched his nose and replied vaguely, “Something like that.”
“I knew it! The royal family of the main bloodline has never forgotten us branch members!” The old man became excited, grabbing Ling Feng’s arm and leading him inside. “Sir, please follow me. I will take you to meet the chief!”
“Uh... Third Uncle, you!”
The black-armored demon gritted his teeth in frustration but could do nothing but follow behind Ling Feng and the old man to meet the chief.
The minor branch of the Three-Headed Demonic Jiao Clan in Heavenly Demon City seemed to be in rather poor shape. The occasional buildings around were no more than a few thatched huts. Even the chief’s residence was just a slightly larger cave with some simple furnishings.
The entire Three-Headed Demonic Jiao Clan settlement, both inside and out, barely numbered more than a hundred demons.
The old man led Ling Feng into the chief’s cave, which was well-lit and guarded by layers of sentries.
Soon, Ling Feng saw a middle-aged man with a stern demeanor. This, it seemed, was the leader of the minor branch of the Three-Headed Demonic Jiao Clan in Heavenly Demon City.
