Book 2: Chapter 94: Atlas of the Universe
He had now reached the pinnacle of the Dharma Aspect Realm and was just a step away from breaking through. Once he entered the Star River Realm, given his cultivation speed, it shouldn\'t take long to advance further.
"Do I need to prepare anything?" Zhang Xuan asked after a moment of hesitation.
There was a brief silence from the other side before the voice continued, "At the Destiny Hall, there is an artifact called the Convergence Mirror. If you get the chance, find a way to bring it over—it should help speed up the refinement of Zhi Lan Valley."
"Understood!" Zhang Xuan nodded and committed the name to memory.
"It\'s inconvenient for me to maintain contact here for long. Once your cultivation improves, come find me!"
As the voice of Kong Shi faded, Zhang Xuan retracted his sword energy and exhaled deeply.
It was no surprise that it was Kong Shi—someone who dared to refine the Heaven\'s Fate Divine Domain, which others feared like a venomous snake. The most impressive part was that he had already identified the key item to achieve it.
Understanding the current situation, Zhang Xuan no longer worried too much. He resumed his cultivation while awaiting news from Sun Qiang. At the same time, he continued refining his Flowing Light Heaven\'s Fate, aiming to break through to the Third Stage. It wasn’t about attaining overwhelming power but testing the path to advancing Heaven’s Fate.
In the quiet courtyard, Zhang Xuan gripped the butt of his long spear with one hand, the tip held steady as he stood motionless like a bridge.
Buzz!
A fly buzzed past. Seemingly sensing it, Zhang Xuan swiftly retracted the spear and thrust forward in one fluid motion.
The fly, however, wobbled away unscathed, as if nothing had happened.
"Failed?" Sun Qiang, who had just arrived, looked curious.
"Look closely…" Zhang Xuan smiled faintly and flicked his spear, bringing it closer.
Sun Qiang, full of doubt, released his spiritual sense. A glance later, he was stunned. "You clipped one of its legs?!"
In the split second that his young master attacked, he had struck the fly and severed one of its legs without harming its body.
Piercing a moving fly midair was already impressive, but severing a single leg without inflicting further injury… This level of control over power was terrifying.
"It\'s still not enough. If I can clip just a leg hair, I should be able to break through…" Zhang Xuan shook his head.
Sun Qiang was in disbelief, but Zhang Xuan understood that he was still short of achieving the Third Stage.
The Flowing Light Heaven\'s Fate was a Level Six Heaven\'s Fate, far superior to the Mo Dao technique. Moreover, with Han Qianye\'s death, there was no one left to demonstrate it, making further progress exceedingly difficult. R
Simply channeling Heaven\'s Fate Energy was no longer effective. Only breaking through this stage would allow him to continue channeling the Flowing Stream, expanding the River of Destiny—an inherently challenging task.
"Forget it. Let’s focus on breaking through to the Star River Realm first!"
Shaking his head, Zhang Xuan prepared to store his spear in the New World. Suddenly, his body trembled as an overwhelming surge of Heaven\'s Fate Energy flooded the area, flowing wildly into the Flowing Stream within the Library of Heaven\'s Path.
In mere moments, this Heaven\'s Fate doubled in strength, emanating a powerful aura.
Flowing Light Heaven\'s Fate, Third Stage!
Sometimes, the most unexpected results occur when you stop trying. Zhang Xuan had failed when he intentionally sought success, yet now, without any defense, he achieved a breakthrough effortlessly.
"It\'s… Zheng Yang! He broke through the Flowing Light Spear Technique to the Second Stage!"
Zhang Xuan quickly realized the reason.
This sudden reward likely came from Zheng Yang\'s breakthrough, enabling Zhang Xuan to advance rapidly.
"They must have reached the Wanchang Sect headquarters by now." Zhang Xuan surmised.
It had been five or six days since parting ways with Ouyang Hai. Even if traveling with others slowed them down compared to solo flight, Zheng Yang and the others should have arrived by now.
He wondered how they would be trained and what kind of Heaven’s Fate inheritance they might receive.
As long as they didn’t contact him, it meant there were no issues, and they were safe.
Sea of Moments, Wanchang Sect Headquarters
The grand and towering halls were presided over by three indistinct figures, their appearances blurred and indiscernible. Below them, a stern-faced middle-aged man sat at a lower seat.
"Elder Ouyang, are these the geniuses you brought back?"
The man glanced at Zhao Ya and the others standing in the hall with a hint of doubt in his eyes. "They don’t look young, yet their cultivation is still so low…"n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Upon returning to the Wanchang Sect, Ouyang Hai had reported that he had found a group of geniuses. He hadn’t elaborated on their capabilities but expressed hope they would receive proper training.
The middle-aged man knew Ouyang Hai’s strength well. As one of the top experts in the Wanchang Sect, anything he deemed significant was unlikely to be trivial. Yet after observing for a while, the man saw nothing remarkable about these three individuals.
They were all in their twenties, with cultivation no higher than the Source Pool Realm\'s Seventh Level - Jade Bone Stage. Even many auxiliary disciples of the Wanchang Sect could achieve that.
As one of the most powerful factions in the Source World, individuals considered geniuses elsewhere might not even qualify as beginners here.
"The Sect Master can test their talent!" Ouyang Hai cupped his fists.
The speaker was none other than Baixiao Sheng, the current Sect Master of the Wanchang Sect.
Baixiao Sheng, whose name meant “Master of Omniscience,” inherited the title associated with those who oversee Heaven’s Fate statistics. Every sect master bore this name, and his original name had long been forgotten.
"A talent test?"
Baixiao Sheng nodded and flipped his wrist, causing a jade tablet to hover in the air. As it was about to descend, Ouyang Hai interrupted.
"Sect Master, I request the Wanchang Diagram!"
Baixiao Sheng retracted the tablet and frowned. "Elder Ouyang, are you aware of the implications of requesting the Wanchang Diagram?"
The Wanchang Diagram was the Wanchang Sect’s supreme treasure, vital for cultivating and analyzing Heaven’s Fate. It was crafted by the first-generation Baixiao Sheng by collecting treasures from all over the world.
Usually housed in the Wanchang Tower and guarded by the three Supreme Elders, it was rarely shown to anyone. Only under extraordinary circumstances would it be brought out, and certainly not for a mere talent test.
Ouyang Hai nodded solemnly. "I am aware. However, the Linlang Tablet cannot accurately evaluate their talents. I believe the Wanchang Diagram is necessary!"
Baixiao Sheng raised an eyebrow. "The Linlang Tablet is the most precise talent-evaluating artifact in the Source World, capable of measuring even Imperial-Grade Talent. Are you suggesting their talents might surpass Imperial-Grade?"
Talent evaluation in the Source World factored in many aspects, including the Source Pool, Furnace, and Heaven’s Fate, making it more comprehensive than individual assessments.
Similar to furnace grades, talent levels were divided into Low, Middle, High, Supreme, Royal, and Imperial Grades.
Imperial-Grade Talent was already the pinnacle, enabling one to inherit a Tier Three Heaven’s Fate. Such individuals were exceedingly rare across the Source World, emerging perhaps once in billions of cultivators.
Surpassing Imperial-Grade was almost unheard of; those who did were considered unparalleled figures, often the ones who comprehended the 24 Tier Two Heaven’s Fates currently in existence.
The Eight Tier One Heaven’s Fates, on the other hand, were ancient and existed since the Source World’s inception, not subject to evaluation.
Even the Sect Master, Baixiao Sheng, with his immense power, only possessed talent barely reaching the Imperial Grade. This was typical, as successors often fell short of their creators.
For Ouyang Hai to suggest not one but three individuals whose talents couldn’t be assessed by the Linlang Tablet was astonishing.
"Indeed," Ouyang Hai affirmed.
"Very well."
Understanding Ouyang Hai’s seriousness, Baixiao Sheng made no further objections. With a wave of his hand, immense energy surged forth, creating a flow of peculiar air currents that extended behind him.
The three blurry figures grew more distinct, revealing the forms of three elders. These were the Wanchang Sect’s strongest Supreme Elders, tasked with guarding the Wanchang Tower and the Wanchang Diagram.
"What is the meaning of this disturbance?" asked the elder on the left, his voice calm but powerful.
"Seniors, Elder Ouyang has brought three individuals he believes to be extraordinary talents and requests the Wanchang Diagram for evaluation," Baixiao Sheng explained, bowing respectfully.
Even as Sect Master, he dared not show disrespect to these elders.
"To test talent with the Wanchang Diagram?" The elder on the right frowned. "Are you certain they can withstand its pressure?"
"I am certain," Baixiao Sheng replied firmly.
"Very well. We shall summon the
Wanchang Diagram now. Should these individuals fail to endure its effects, both you and Elder Ouyang will face consequences."
The middle elder gestured lightly, and a suffocating pressure filled the hall. Moments later, a radiant book-like artifact appeared, exuding a dazzling glow.
The Wanchang Diagram—the supreme treasure of the Wanchang Sect.
"Zhao Ya, Zheng Yang, Wang Ying, step forward and try to touch the diagram," Ouyang Hai instructed carefully. He paused before transmitting a message to the trio telepathically.
"No matter what, expend every effort to touch the Wanchang Diagram. Doing so will cause it to manifest a Heaven’s Fate projection tailored to your physiques and talents. This will greatly aid your future cultivation, reducing many difficulties."
The Linlang Tablet could measure talent but couldn’t deduce Heaven’s Fate. The Wanchang Diagram, however, was unparalleled in this regard, making it a treasure he could not forgo.
Such intentions, though, couldn’t be shared openly in the hall.
"Understood!"
Zhao Ya, Zheng Yang, and Wang Ying, fully aware of his good intentions, nodded gratefully.
"You three, who will go first?" Baixiao Sheng’s gaze fell on them.
