Chapter 69 Caught In The Act?
Faeryn saw what was happening, and she spun, throwing her quick spear which struck the Lava Hound\'s exposed flank. It howled before disintegrating into ash, leaving Rosette dusting herself up as she rose to her feet.
She lifted her head and glared at her rescuer. "What are you waiting for? A thank you? I had it under control, you know," she muttered.
"Of course you did," Faeryn replied dryly. "I suppose that is why you asked for help.
She turned around, and saw that Misty had successfully taken down the last beast. The notification came that the Lobby had been cleared and it was time to progress to the Third Lobby.
Faeryn ignored Rosette\'s glare and started moving toward the next corridor. "Let\'s keep going."
As they progressed through the Lobbies, Rosette grew more agitated, her complaints more frequent and grating. "How many of these damn rooms are there? This is taking forever!"
"Dungeons don\'t operate on your schedule," Faeryn said curtly, her patience wearing thin. "I warned you that this is most likely a wild goose chase. Dungeons are designed to be personalized for each party. Running into other parties is extremely rare. And even if there is a possibility that we could find your brother, you\'ll find him faster if you focus on staying alive."
Misty, as always, tried to mediate. "Rosie, I think we really should just trust her. It\'s Faeryn. I mean she has done this a lot more than the both of us combined." Discover more content at empire
Even though she knew her sister was right, Rosette ignored her, her eyes scanning every shadow and crevice. When they entered the third Quest Lobby, which was one filled with a dense fog, her voice rose in frustration. "Aeric! If you\'re in here, show yourself already!"
Faeryn paused, turning to face Rosette. "Calling his name won\'t make this easier. If he\'s here, we\'ll find him. But shouting will only draw unwanted attention. We don\'t even know what kind of beasts are here."
Rosette opened her mouth to argue but closed it when Misty touched her arm. "Let\'s just keep going," Misty whispered.
With a huff, Rosette fell silent, her focus shifting back to the task at hand. But as they looked around the Quest Lobby, Faeryn\'s curiosity grew. What was so important about Aeric that his sister was so desperate to find him?
Couldn\'t she just wait until he was done challenging the Dungeon? It couldn\'t be because she cared for him, she had joined forces with Aryanne and the Twilight Twins to attack Aeric, her own brother, inside the Veiled Maze.
So what was the deal here?
Eventually, they face the giant serpents which were the beasts of that particular Lobby. After defeating them, they moved on to the next Lobby.
Stepping into the fourth Quest Lobby, their eyes moved around as they surveyed the scene. The air was corrupted with the stench of blood and the acrid tang of battle.
Scattered across the terrain were the corpses of Faceless Lizards, their eyeless, scaled heads grotesquely twisted in death. These creatures in their own right were very formidable, but clearly the last Dungeon Squad that faced them had torn through them with brutal efficiency.
Faeryn knelt beside one of the lizards, examining a deep gash running across its abdomen. "These wounds are fresh," she muttered, her sharp eyes scanning the area. "A Squad has been here recently. The Dungeon hasn\'t even had enough time to remove the bodies and rebuild the scene. Your Region\'s Dungeons have slow reception."
The sisters looked at her but said nothing to that.
Misty shifted nervously, clutching her weapon tightly. "Could it be Aeric\'s team?" she asked, her voice tinged with hope but also apprehension.
"It could be anyone. Any team," Faeryn replied, standing and brushing her hands off. "There\'s no guarantee it\'s him. This beast was killed by someone who can manipulate Divinity to create blasts. I don\'t think your brother has the power to do that."
Rosette stepped forward, her face resolute. "It\'s him," she declared with absolute certainty. "I can feel it. We\'re close."
Faeryn sighed, tired of the blind determination. "Even if it was Aeric\'s team, they could be long gone by now. For all we know, they\'ve already cleared the Dungeon."
"Then we catch up," Rosette snapped. "It\'s not like we have any other choice but to move forward. No one leaves a Dungeon until it has been cleared."
Faeryn exchanged a glance with Misty, who merely shrugged apologetically. "You are right about that. At least."
They received the notification and prepared to face the Faceless Lizards. The team of five worked together to defeat the tricky beasts, and with some reluctance, Faeryn led the way to the next Lobby.
No one expected the fifth Lobby was to be quieter. Especially after what they had seen in the fourth. But there were no signs of recent battles. This frustrated Rosette, and made no sense to Faeryn. If there was residue from the last Lobby, then shouldn\'t there be residue from the leading one. Or was the Dungeon now being more receptive and cleaning up faster?
Nevertheless, it wasn\'t devoid of threats. The notification came and they advanced, the ground trembled beneath them, and two massive simian creatures emerged from the shadows.
Giant Spider-Monkeys. These beasts stood tall, their fists like boulders, their crimson eyes blazing with fury, and their spider legs extending from their back.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
The battle was fierce, Rosette\'s shouting directions almost as loud as the creatures\' roars. Faeryn took the lead, her spear spinning with precision as she targeted their legs to slow their movements. Misty followed her sister\'s commands dutifully, her sword finding their marks but struggling to pierce the creatures\' thick hides.
When the beasts finally fell, Misty collapsed onto a nearby rock, panting heavily. "No signs of anyone here," she managed between breaths.
"Then we keep going," Rosette said, already heading toward the next corridor. "They must be close."
Faeryn\'s patience was wearing thin. "Rosette, you\'re chasing shadows. There\'s no proof they\'re ahead."
"But we still have to go ahead, don\'t we?" Rosette countered without looking back. "No point in arguing. The reason why doesn\'t matter. We still go ahead."
That was painfully true.
They arrived at the sixth Lobby next. And this one was chaos incarnate.
The Lobby was cavernous and extremely vast, stretching in all directions. There were glowing stalactites and some fog, but there was a problem.
The trio froze as they noticed this problem.
This place was mayhem. The ground was shattered into jagged shards, deep fissures splitted the earth, large boulders and chunks of debris lay scattered across the terrain, and parts of the ceiling had collapsed, with smaller rocks still tumbling down intermittently.
The air was covered with dust, making it hard to breathe or see clearly, and there was barely any straight land to step on.
"What… happened here?" Misty whispered.
Faeryn crouched, her fingers brushing against a scorch mark on the ground. "This Lobby has a difficulty of 70%. I will guess the beast is a MegaSquid by the tentacle marks on the wall," she explained with a grim tone. "The Dungeon Squad that faced the beast was successful but they took a lot of damage it seemed."
Rosette\'s eyes darted across the destruction until they landed on three figures in the distance. She narrowed her eyes.
These figures — undeniably a team of skilled Players — were working tirelessly to remove rocks from a massive obstruction. Their movements were coordinated but they seemed exhausted, even from afar.
Misty followed her sister\'s eyes and saw them as well. "Whose team could they be?"
Rosette\'s eyes remained narrowed as that was exactly what she was about to find out.
Meanwhile, behind that obstruction that the team of three were trying to remove, Aeric was plunging deep strokes into the cunt of his new slut. Alzera enjoyed his cock, moaning with pleasure, but they were both oblivious to what was about to happen…
